Dr. Chandra Mohan Nautiyal - scientist and science communicator and a Consultant to Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi
He is a well known scientist and science communicator and a Consultant to Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi at present. Earlier, in 2016, he superannuated as Scientist-in-Charge of the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeoscience, Lucknow. After BSc Hons. in Physics, he received his masters degree in Physics from IIT Roorkee (then UoR) in 1977 followed by PhD and Post-doctoral work at the famous Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad of ISRO. He has been recipient of several scholarships and Fellowships. Later he joined Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany, Lucknow. As a scientific collaborator, he was a part of Indian team that studied lunar samples brought by NASA and Russian space organisation. Later he switched over to Earth Sciences. Read More
On one hand, he has published in journals like Earth & Planetary Science Letters, Astrophysical Journal and Geophysical Research Letters, on the other one can see his papers in Antiquity, Grana, Quaternary International and Natural hazards. Alongside, he also published in Sage encyclopaedia, Journal of Science Communication and Indian Journal of Science Communication. Dr. Nautiyal has earned respect in science through recognition like prestigious INSA Medal for Young Scientists, prizes for 3 research papers, Dr. CV Raman Award, Prabhashree Samman for research, but as well known science communicator and broadcaster, he has also won honours from NBRI, CIMAP, BSIP, Vigyan Parishad, Vidya Bharati, Nathdwara Sahitya Mandal and many science clubs of India. He is well known for his live broadcasts on Total Solar Eclipse, Lunar Eclipse and Venus Transit and Science Train. He has been abroad 10 times for science and science communication and mostly on supported invitations. This includes a visit to USA as student awardee by Meteoritical Society, and a recipient of INSA -DFG Fellowship to Germany. He is Chairman of the Young Scientists Project Committee of UP Council for S&T; Chairman of the NCSC-UP Coordination Committee; Executive member of Vigyan Parishad; member of the Board of Studies of a University; member of the Internal RAC of NRLC; and in the Executive Committee of many other organisations related to science or science communication. He has been Convener, NCSTC Network with Padma Vibhushan Late Prof. Yash Pal as Chairperson, member of the National Committee for Archaeological Sciences, Coordinator of a session in Science Congress-2003, Convener/ expert/ media coordinator/ expert and panelist during the IISF 2016, 2017 and 2018. He has been involved in science communication efforts with involvement of the likes of Bharat Ratna Dr. Kalam, Bharat Ratna Prof. CNR Rao, Padma Vibhushan prof. Yash Pal, Padma Vibhushan Prof. Jayant Narlikar, padma Vibhushan and Padma Vibhushan Dr. RA Mashelkar. He is still active both as a scientist and science communicator. During two and a half years after retirement. he has submitted/ published 10 papers and reports in addition to several popular articles etc., delivered 140 talks and 10 radio/ TV programmes, several documentary-scripts He continues to be coordinator of the Rock Art Documentation Committee for UP and holds positions in many committees. He has been a speaker at many universities mainly in the HRD courses at JNU, Allahabad, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, IISc, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Nagpur, Puduchery, Anna, Panjab, Bombay, Presidency etc. and lectured at many institutons of CSIR, Atomic Energy, DRDO, DST, ICAR, Ministry of Culture as well as schools. He is known as a thinker. Climate change, energy and their relationship are among his favourite subjects.

Her areas of specializations are Solar Thermal Systems, Solar Photovoltaic Systems, Wind Energy Conversion Systems, Bio-energy Systems, Mini and Micro Hydel Systems, Energy Conservation, Climate Change and NMR Spectroscopy. After her education, she joined the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria as a Faculty Member and also participated as an Associate Member at the Sokoto Energy Research Centre of the same University. She also acted as the Head of the Department for some times during 1977-90 period.Prof Bajpai returned to India in 1990 after serving for 13 years in Nigeria and joined the Department of Physics, University of Lucknow as a CSIR Pool Officer. She was appointed as a Faculty Member in Physics in University of Lucknow in 1991 and promoted to Professor in 2007. Under her supervision 08 research scholars have been awarded Ph D and 02 students are working as SRF/Research Scholar. She established Renewable Energy Research Laboratory in the Department of Physics soon after joining the Department. She was the Coordinator of Renewable Energy in the Centre of Excellence in Renewable Energy Education and Research of the University of Lucknow. She started M Sc Programme in Renewable Energy in 2007-08. The University Grants Commission (UGC) had sanctioned a new programme called B Voc Renewable Energy Technology from the academic session 2015-16 and the University had appointed Prof Bajpai as the Director of B Voc Renewable Energy Technology Programme. After her superannuation in June 2017, the University authorities have again given her the responsibilities of Honorary Coordinator, Renewable Energy at the Centre of Excellence in Renewable Energy Education and Research, University of Lucknow.

He has nearly eighteen years of teaching experience. He has published nearly 50 research papers in various national and international journals of repute and authored three books for the undergraduate students. He is also supervising eight Ph.D students in the field of production and Industrial engineering. He has a long experience of working in various administrative capacities like, Dean Students Welfare , Proctor and warden .Nearly 30 M.Tech. and 20 B.Tech. projects have also been supervised by him.

Dr. Niraj Gupta graduated in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay and did his Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from IIT Bombay in 1996. He has supervised six dissertations. He has also worked in the consultancy project of Crompton Greaves, PAL & Garware in the area of Productivity, Quality and Integrated Production & Distribution System Presently, he is Professor and Dean (Mechanical Engineering) at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, Lucknow. Dr. Venkatesh Dutta is an associate professor at the School for Environmental Sciences, BBAU, Lucknow. He is a British Chevening Scholar from University of Wales, UK and a Fulbright Scholar, University of Maryland, USA. He possesses Ph.D in Regulatory and Policy Research with a focus on Urban Water Systems from TERI University, M.Sc. in Environment Management and B. Sc. in Environmental Sc. from University of Delhi. He was a Post – Doctoral Fellow at the School of Public Policy, University of Maryland during 2011 - 2012. He was also a Member of the Core Group of State Science & Technology Programme (SSTP), under Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India during 2014 - 2017. Read More
His research interests pertain, primarily to environment and development, technology policy management, and water resources. He is also interested in action-oriented and evidence based research and is actively seeking to developing structured capacity building programs and local planning mechanisms. With the support from DST, he is mentoring researchers at the Centre for Policy Research at BBAU, Lucknow where he is working on policies and mechanisms that could facilitate delivery of S&T outputs for social inclusion. He has guided four doctoral candidates and more than 30 masters’ theses on different aspects of environment and sustainable development. He has to his credit more than 40 research papers. He is a fellow of Society of Earth Sciences India and life member of International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), UK; Indian Water Resources Society, IIT Roorkee and Indian Association of Hydrologists.
